At one point in my life, the infamous, untranslatable Portuguese word resonated deeply with me. Perfume seemed like the only outlet to capture how I felt when all else failed.
SAUDADE #14
The process of making Saudade feels like a ritual. It is nothing I would ever be able to replicate nor want to. This perfume is structured like most conventional perfume with a top, heart, and base note. The choice of materials for each of these notes, however, reflects the cyclonic emotions of saudade.
The top notes are scents infused with memories with different people at different places. As memories come in waves, a glimmer of hope and yearning evokes profound nolstagia. The happy days are back. Yet, deep down, this fantasy will not last, leaving behind an aching melancholy.
Top notes: linden blossom, petitgrain, black pepper
Heart notes: high elevation lavender, Indian frankincense
Base notes: iris, oakmoss, patchouli
Sealed with Tears of a Broken Heart.
